Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause device removal to hang.

The vulnerability exists due to missing timeout handling in virtio RTC alarm request handling when a pending alarm request does not receive a device response during surprise device removal. A local user can issue an alarm request while the virtio device stops responding to cause device removal to hang.
