Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to an incorrect consistency check after truncating a search list in the DNS stub resolver when initializing the resolver from a configuration containing a long search domain. A remote attacker can provide a long search domain through network configuration data to cause a denial of service.
Exploitation is subject to validation by network configuration software.
