Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local privileged user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to a null pointer dereference in the serial8250_register_8250_port() function when registering an 8250 serial port without a parent device. A local privileged user can register an 8250 serial port without a parent device to cause a denial of service.
