Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in madvise_free_huge_pmd in mm/huge_memory.c when an HMM-based GPU driver migrates pages concurrently with madvise(MADV_FREE) operations. A local user can race madvise(MADV_FREE) with HMM-based GPU page migration to cause a denial of service.
