Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to corrupt kernel kmap_local mapping nesting.

The vulnerability exists due to improper resource management in write_mft_record_nolock() when handling error paths during MFT record writes. A local user can trigger an error while writing an MFT record to corrupt kernel kmap_local mapping nesting.

The issue occurs when pre_write_mst_fixup() or bio_add_folio() fails after the MFT record folio has been mapped.
