Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of conflicting alternative interface names in __dev_change_net_namespace() when moving network devices from a dying network namespace. A local user can create network devices with identical alternative names in separate network namespaces and remove the non-root network namespace to trigger a kernel warning.
