Use-after-free in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98060
Published: September 28, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to trigger a use-after-free condition.
The vulnerability exists due to improper locking in BPF rbtree comparison callback handling when executing a program-supplied comparison callback during an rbtree operation. A local user can release the root lock using resilient lock kfuncs during the callback to trigger a use-after-free condition.
Exploitation requires another CPU to remove and free the node referenced by the in-progress tree walk before it resumes.
