Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service or modify adjacent heap memory.

The vulnerability exists due to a heap-based buffer overflow in the OpenEXRCore ZSTD deep-scanline decoder when processing a crafted deep-scanline EXR file with ZSTD compression. A remote attacker can supply a crafted EXR file with a declared unpacked size smaller than the sample-derived segment length to cause a denial of service or modify adjacent heap memory.

User interaction is required to process the crafted EXR file.
