CWE-ID: CWE-908
Exploitation vector: Local access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to stale header offsets referencing uninitialized packet-buffer data in pskb_carve_inside_header() and pskb_carve_inside_nonlinear() when removing initial packet bytes and reallocating the skb head. A local user can trigger RDS-over-TCP packet processing that leaves these stale offsets to cause a denial of service.

The observed kernel BUG occurs when drop_monitor processes packet buffers freed with SKB_DROP_REASON_QUEUE_PURGE during RDS incoming-message cleanup.
