Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to disclose kernel heap memory to the network stack.

The vulnerability exists due to an unchecked return value from skb_copy_bits() in mhi_mbim_rx() when processing modem-supplied network transfer blocks. A local user can supply a datagram pointer entry that references data outside the received socket buffer, causing a failed copy and subsequent delivery of an uninitialized buffer to netif_rx(), to disclose kernel heap memory to the network stack.
