CWE-ID: CWE-125
Exploitation vector: Local access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause an out-of-bounds read.

The vulnerability exists due to incorrect block-length calculation in rmi_smb_write_block() when splitting writes into SMBus blocks. A local user can trigger a write with an input length greater than 32 bytes and a partial final block to cause an out-of-bounds read.

The final partial block causes smb_block_write() to read 32 bytes even when fewer bytes remain in the input buffer.
