Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to read beyond the bounds of a kernel beacon buffer.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in mwifiex_search_oui_in_ie() when processing RSN or WPA information elements in beacon or probe-response frames during scan-result parsing. A remote attacker can transmit a crafted information element with a pairwise-cipher count exceeding the element's available length to read beyond the bounds of a kernel beacon buffer.
