Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to trigger out-of-bounds reads.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient bounds checking in move_smb2_ea_to_cifs() when processing a malformed extended attribute list returned by an SMB server. A remote attacker can return a specially crafted extended attribute list containing a truncated smb2_ea_info structure to trigger out-of-bounds reads.

The affected reads access the ea_name_length and ea_value_length fields.
