Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to use-after-free in tcp_send_synack() when replacing a cloned SYN socket buffer in the retransmit queue without updating the retransmission hint. A local user can initiate a TCP Fast Open connection using sendmsg(MSG_FASTOPEN) and supply an ICMP fragmentation-needed message to cause a denial of service.

Exploitation requires a simultaneous open after the retransmission hint has been armed.
