CWE-ID: CWE-457
Exploitation vector: Local access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause uninitialized stack data to be used during IPv4 address mapping.

The vulnerability exists due to use of an uninitialized variable in nft_nat_setup_netmap() when constructing an IPv4 netmap address. A local user can trigger IPv4 netmap processing to cause uninitialized stack data to be used during IPv4 address mapping.

Only the 4-byte IPv4 member of the 16-byte address union is initialized before the entire union is copied into the address range passed to nf_nat_setup_info(). The IPv6 path initializes all 16 bytes and is not affected.
