Out-of-bounds write in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98419
Published: October 15, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to corrupt kernel memory.
The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds write in reset_per_cpu_data() in the Linux kernel drop_monitor component when zeroing an alert message buffer. A local user can trigger an oversized memset() operation to corrupt kernel memory.
The write extends four bytes beyond the allocated buffer and corrupts skb_shared_info.
