Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to a deadlock in do_close_on_exec() in fs/exec.c when closing file descriptors during process execution while holding exec_update_lock. A local user can trigger process execution involving a FUSE filesystem that attempts to inspect the calling process to cause a denial of service.
