Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause incorrect accounting of buffer invalidation log space.

The vulnerability exists due to an incorrect unit conversion in the XFS per_binval computation when calculating buffer invalidation overhead. A local user can trigger the affected calculations to cause incorrect accounting of buffer invalidation log space.

The second parameter of xfs_buf_inval_log_space expects bytes, but max_binval is expressed in filesystem blocks.

Affected software
