CVE-ID: N/A
CWE-ID: CWE-755
Exploitation vector: Local access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service by terminating the process decoding a malformed JPEG image.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of exceptional conditions in winpr_convert_from_jpeg() in winpr/libwinpr/utils/image.c when decoding malformed JPEG content during clipboard format conversion. A local user can supply malformed or truncated JPEG data through the local clipboard to trigger libjpeg's default error_exit handler, which calls exit() and terminates the process instead of returning a decoding failure.

The vulnerable decoder requires a build with WINPR_UTILS_IMAGE_JPEG enabled.
