Incomplete cleanup in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98471
Published: October 22, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to potentially disclose sensitive guest data left in CPU caches.
The vulnerability exists due to incomplete cache cleanup in the Linux kernel KVM SEV subsystem when performing intra-host VM migration and subsequently destroying the source VM. A local user can potentially exploit residual cached data to disclose sensitive guest information because converting the source VM to a non-SEV VM prevents its memory reclamation flows from triggering cache maintenance.
