Vulnerability identifier: #VU156805
CSH Severity: Low
CVSS v4: 5.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98504
CWE-ID: CWE-476
Exploitation vector: Local access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service through an early boot hang.

The vulnerability exists due to a null pointer dereference in the Linux kernel functions of_pci_prop_bus_range() and of_pci_prop_intr_map() when generating device tree properties for a PCI bridge without an allocated subordinate bus. A local user can exploit this condition during PCI initialization to cause an early boot hang.

The issue requires CONFIG_PCI_DYNAMIC_OF_NODES to be enabled.
