Use-after-free in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98517
Published: October 22, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to potentially cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free in the Linux kernel Nouveau driver's nouveau_uvmm_sm() mapping path when a buffer object in TTM_PL_SYSTEM has its struct ttm_resource incorrectly treated as struct nouveau_mem. A local user can trigger mapping operations involving such a buffer object to cause a read beyond the resource allocation, potentially causing a kernel crash.
