Vulnerability identifier: #VU156830
CSH Severity: Low
CVSS v4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98528
CWE-ID: CWE-457
Exploitation vector: Local access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to disclose kernel stack contents.

The vulnerability exists due to use of uninitialized stack memory in gpio_desc_to_lineinfo() when GPIO chip guard acquisition fails during line information retrieval. A local user can request GPIO line information through lineinfo_get_v1() to obtain kernel stack contents from an information structure returned to user space without being initialized.
