Use-after-free in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98544
Published: October 22, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local privileged user to potentially cause a denial of service by crashing the kernel.
The vulnerability exists due to use-after-free in the Linux kernel bna Ethernet driver when tearing down a device or cleaning up a failed probe. A local privileged user can potentially exploit mutually rearming IOC timers to cause bnad_iocpf_timeout() to access bnad->bna_lock after free_netdev() has freed the containing struct bnad, potentially crashing the kernel.
