Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98560
Published: October 22, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to exhaust kernel resources and potentially cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to missing release of workqueue resources in the Linux kernel RDS connection handling code when an RDS/TCP connection to a local address is switched to the loopback transport. A local user can trigger creation of such connections followed by network namespace teardown or module unloading to leak seven workqueues per connection, potentially exhausting kernel resources and causing a denial of service.
