Use-after-free in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98562
Published: October 22, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition leading to use-after-free in the Linux kernel libwx transmit timestamp handling when timestamp processing overlaps with cleanup of a shared socket buffer. A local user can trigger concurrent transmit timestamp processing and cleanup to potentially cause a kernel crash through access to an already freed socket buffer or repeated release of the same reference.
