Vulnerability identifier: #VU156879
CSH Severity: Low
CVSS v4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98576
CWE-ID: CWE-125
Exploitation vector: Local access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to potentially disclose kernel memory contents through debug output.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel NFC LLCP functions nfc_llcp_wks_sap() and nfc_llcp_build_sdreq_tlv() when logging non-null-terminated service names. A local user can supply a non-null-terminated service name that is passed to pr_debug() with the %s format specifier to trigger reads beyond the allocated buffer and potentially expose adjacent kernel memory in debug output.
