Out-of-bounds read in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98578
Published: October 22, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker on the local network to trigger an out-of-bounds read that may cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel's st21nfca_get_iso15693_inventory() helper when processing truncated ISO15693 inventory responses. A remote attacker on the local network can supply an inventory response with an insufficient length to trigger a read of data[1] as the DSFID beyond the available data, potentially causing a denial of service.
