Vulnerability identifier: #VU156895
CSH Severity: Low
CVSS v4: 5.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98592
CWE-ID: CWE-416
Exploitation vector: Local access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to potentially cause a denial of service through DMA accesses to stale buffer addresses.

The vulnerability exists due to use-after-free in the SpacemiT Ethernet driver's emac_tx_mem_map() function when handling a fragment mapping failure during packet transmission. A local user can trigger transmission of fragmented packets that encounter this failure to leave hardware-owned descriptors referencing released DMA mappings, potentially causing invalid memory accesses and a system crash.
