Incomplete cleanup in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98595
Published: October 22, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to degrade UDP packet-processing performance.
The vulnerability exists due to incomplete cleanup of disconnected sockets in the Linux kernel UDP 4-tuple hash table when disconnecting a socket bound to a specific address and port. A local user can create, connect, and disconnect such sockets while keeping them open to retain stale hash entries and force an unnecessary 4-tuple lookup for every packet targeting the corresponding local address and port.
