Release of invalid pointer or reference in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98630
Published: October 22, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to potentially cause a denial of service through an invalid pointer dereference and a resource leak.
The vulnerability exists due to an attempt to destroy a page pool using an invalid error pointer in the Linux kernel fbnic driver's fbnic_alloc_qt_page_pools() function when payload page pool allocation fails. A local user can potentially trigger this allocation failure to cause the cleanup path to pass the error pointer to page_pool_destroy(), which may dereference it and leave the header page pool allocated.
