Use-after-free in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98642
Published: October 22, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to potentially cause a denial of service by triggering a kernel use-after-free.
The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free in the Linux kernel BPF memory allocator when alloc_bulk() consumes list nodes concurrently with RCU Tasks Trace cleanup. A local user can trigger concurrent BPF memory allocation and reclamation operations to potentially crash the kernel by causing access to freed list nodes.
