Race condition in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98649
Published: October 22, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to potentially cause a denial of service through a kernel crash.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in the Linux kernel s390 KVM function _destroy_pages_crste() when processing concurrently modified address translation entries. Separate reads of the same entry can yield inconsistent values for flag checks and address calculations. A local user can trigger this race to potentially cause invalid memory accesses and a kernel crash.
