Use-after-free in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98699
Published: October 22, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to potentially cause a denial of service through access to freed kernel memory.
The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free in the Linux kernel mac80211 mesh fast transmit cache when mesh path deletion races with cache entry insertion. A local user can potentially trigger concurrent mesh path deletion and cache insertion to leave a cache entry referencing a freed mesh_path object, which may cause a kernel crash when accessed.
