Use-after-free in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98772
Published: October 22, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to potentially cause a denial of service through a kernel crash.
The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free in the Linux kernel USB serial subsystem when shared USB request completion handlers race with port teardown. A local user can potentially trigger this race during device disconnection, causing a completion handler to access freed port driver data and crash the kernel.
