Off-by-one in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98835
Published: October 22, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause an out-of-bounds read that may disclose kernel memory or cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to an off-by-one array bounds check in the Linux kernel Kionix KX022A accelerometer driver's kx022a_read_raw() function when converting a register value into a sampling-frequency table index. A local user can trigger an out-of-bounds read if the masked register value equals the number of table entries, potentially disclosing kernel memory or causing a denial of service.
