Use-after-free in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98837
Published: October 22, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to potentially cause a denial of service by triggering access to freed kernel memory.
The vulnerability exists due to use-after-free in the Linux kernel ALSA caiaq driver when device probing fails after an input device has been registered. A local user can read the input device's "uevent" attribute after this failure to trigger a dereference of freed device state, potentially causing a kernel crash.
