Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service by crashing a bRPC Redis server process.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds write in Apache bRPC's RedisCommandParser::ConsumeImpl when an empty RESP command array is accepted and parsing continues into a subsequent bulk string. A remote attacker can send an empty array header followed by a bulk string to trigger a write to _args[0] in an empty argument vector and crash the process.
