Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service by exhausting server memory.

The vulnerability exists due to uncontrolled resource allocation in Apache bRPC's StreamAccept handling when creating a response stream for every identifier declared in a request without a per-request stream-count limit. A remote attacker can send a single RPC request containing an excessive number of stream_settings.extra_stream_ids to allocate large numbers of execution queues and associated resources and exhaust server memory.
