Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service by terminating a bRPC server process.

The vulnerability exists due to reachable assertions in Apache bRPC's streaming feedback handling when a feedback frame contains an unexpected payload or reaches a stream with flow control disabled. A remote attacker can establish a stream and send a malformed FRAME_TYPE_FEEDBACK frame to trigger CHECK(_cur_buf_size > 0) or CHECK(buf.IsEmpty()) and abort the server process.
