CWE-ID: CWE-617
Exploitation vector: Remote access

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service by aborting a bRPC client process.

The vulnerability exists due to a reachable assertion in Apache bRPC's Socket::OnInputEvent when a stale input event reaches a socket revived by health checking while its file descriptor remains closed. A remote attacker can deliberately abort connections and immediately accept health-check probes to race connection teardown against socket revival and trigger a process-terminating CHECK failure.
