Vulnerability identifier: #VU157482
CSH Severity: Low
CVSS v4: 5.6 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:H/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
CVE-ID: CVE-2026-99028
CWE-ID: CWE-362
Exploitation vector: Local access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local privileged user to corrupt freed memory through DMA writes, potentially causing a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to a race condition between axienet_dma_rx_cb() and axienet_stop() in the Xilinx AXI Ethernet driver's dmaengine path when receive-buffer resubmission overlaps interface teardown. A local privileged user can trigger interface shutdown during receive processing, if permitted, to leave the DMA engine writing into a buffer freed by teardown, potentially corrupting memory and causing a denial of service.

Affected software

Linux kernel
Debian Linux
linux (Debian package)
