Out-of-bounds write in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98918
Published: October 24, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local privileged user to corrupt kernel memory and cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds write in the Linux kernel's damon_ptep_mkold() function when an unaligned sampling address is passed to arm64 page-table access-flag clearing helpers. A local privileged user can trigger affected DAMON sampling to cause the page-table walk to clear access flags beyond the sampled block and potentially beyond the page-table page, corrupting adjacent kernel memory and causing a denial of service.
