Improper input validation in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98916
Published: October 24, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local privileged user to cause a wireless driver to process an invalid link, potentially disrupting wireless operation.
The vulnerability exists due to improper validation of wireless link state in the nl80211_color_change() function when handling a color change request for a link that is not beaconing. A local privileged user can submit such a request to cause the kernel to invoke the driver's color change operation with an invalid link, potentially disrupting wireless operation.
