Out-of-bounds write in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-98882
Published: October 24, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to potentially corrupt kernel memory and cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient range checking of frame-buffer indices in the Wave5 driver's wave5_vpu_dec_get_output_info() function when processing invalid decoder output information. A local user can potentially trigger an out-of-range frame-buffer access through invalid decoder output information to corrupt kernel memory and cause a denial of service.
