Vulnerability identifier: #VU157705
CSH Severity: Low
CVSS v4: 5.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98566
CWE-ID: CWE-787
Exploitation vector: Local access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to potentially corrupt kernel memory or cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to missing array bounds checks in the Linux kernel's pvr_free_list_process_reconstruct_req() function when processing firmware freelist reconstruction requests. A local user can potentially trigger processing of an oversized freelist count to cause out-of-bounds reads from the fixed request array and out-of-bounds writes to the fixed response array, potentially corrupting kernel memory or causing a denial of service.
