Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to potentially cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to use-after-free in the Linux kernel's rds_rdma_cm_event_handler_cmn() function when RDMA route resolution fails synchronously while handling RDMA_CM_EVENT_ADDR_RESOLVED. A local user can exploit the stale connection identifier retained by RDS after such a failure to potentially cause a kernel crash when connection shutdown accesses and destroys the already freed identifier.
