Published: January 25, 2019
Vulnerability identifier: #VU17212
CSH Severity: Low
CVSS v4: 8.5 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
CVE-ID: N/A
CWE-ID: CWE-94
Exploitation vector: Local access
Exploit availability:
No public exploit available
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local low-privileged attacker to gain elevated privileges on the target system.
The weakness exists due to insecure implementation of inter-process communications within the ZoneAlarm application itself. A local attacker can hijack the insecure communications with a vulnerable .NET service that is running with SYSTEM-level privileges, inject and execute arbitrary code to bypass privilege restrictions and gain full control of the system.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may result in system compromise.
