Vulnerability details

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to the affected software does not prevent the use of "javascript:" scheme in URLs for links. A remote authenticated attacker able to edit descriptions and other fields rendered using the configured markup formatter can insert links with the javascript scheme into the Jenkins UI.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.
