Detailed vulnerability description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing data within ffserver.c in FFmpeg before 2.8.10, 3.0.x before 3.0.5, 3.1.x before 3.1.6. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted file to the affected application, trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
